Custom Kitchen Storage Ideas

by Craig Friesen

There have been so many ingenious custom kitchen storage innovations in the last years. Here is a brief guide to give you an idea which ones are right for you.

Built-In Spice Racks

If you are an avid cook, you will undoubtedly have struggled with the problem of finding an efficient way to store your spices. By storing spices in a standard cupboard you will find yourself wasting a lot of time searching for the spice you want. On the other hand, displaying spices so their contents are readily recognizable can take up considerable space.

There are a couple of excellent custom kitchen cabinet storage ideas to help you overcome the spice storage dilemma. One is a series of pull-out racks that can occupy the space of one cupboard and still allow easy access. Another option makes use of the back of the cabinet doors, building racks into the inside.

Custom Kitchen Storage Pantries

Pantries have always been a favorite among kitchen efficiency enthusiasts. And today's custom kitchen storage devices turn pantries into even more efficient storage areas.

Stacked storage in pantries has become the norm. Layered storage will often feature door backs that are lined with shelves, much the same as fridge doors. These are also favored places for storing awkward items. Some specialized storage areas include plastic lid caddies, towel racks, plastic bag bins, large container storage, and wine racks. Many pantries also include "paged" storage that act as layers of shelves on pull-out tracks.

Recycling Bins

One large cabinet can easily store a pull-out series of plastic bag holders for holding your various recyclables. These racks are available in narrow widths so three or four can easily reside side-by-side inside one custom kitchen storage cabinet.

By sitting down with your custom kitchen cabinet designer, you are sure to come up with a variety of ideas to make life in the kitchen much easier.
