Everett and Patty Gray both co-own a contracting firm in Bakersfield, California. They mainly focus on refurbishing kitchens and bathrooms, and thus specialize in cabinet refacing, installing showers and bathtubs, etc. A recent article about them mentioned how they believed their showroom gave them a competitive advantage.
Showrooms Provide Competitive Advantage
The Grays think their showroom gives them a competitive advantage among the many contractors in their community. Patty mentioned a story about a customer who had received a number of bids for a kitchen cabinet refacing job. That customer ultimately chose the Grays because he was able to actually see what a finished cabinet refacing job looked like, and his worries about quality were diminished.

Whether it is cabinet refacing or any other home remodeling project, contractors need to be able to show potential customers that they can do a quality job. Creating a showroom that displays your talents can really increase your sales. Show a finished kitchen cabinet refacing model in one area, a refurbished bathroom in another, and a few other models that show your expertise. If you don't have the resources to build a showroom, you should at least ask some of your current clients if you can take pictures of the work you've done for them to show new customers. You should also ask them if you can use them as references if a potential customer wants to do some background research.
