Kitchen Cabinet Refacing Makes Economic Sense

Are you thinking about remodeling your home in order to increase its resale value? You should know that small, inexpensive kitchen and bath remodeling projects tend to offer the best returns on your initial investment.
The Asian Journal out of California recently released an article that analyzed home improvement projects and their effects on resale prices. The article pointed out that kitchen and bath remodeling projects were the two best bets on recouping costs. They claimed that most kitchen and bath remodeling projects would at least recoup 80% of the cost of the remodel.
Cabinet Refacing: A Good Investment
The writers of the article advised that if you want to recoup all of your costs, the safest bet would be to take on a minor kitchen or bath remodeling project, such as kitchen cabinet refacing. Kitchen cabinet refacing is inexpensive but can dramatically change the look of your kitchen by making worn out cabinets look new again. Cabinet refacing is simply the process of adhering a laminate surface to old kitchen cabinets to covers up unsightly nicks and faded colors.
Time is a Consideration
Apparently, minor projects like cabinet refacing often recoup 100% or more of the initial cost of the project. Experts say that the value of the remodeling project goes up the longer you live in your home before you sell it. Of course, your home's value will generally increase over time, meaning that the value of the remodeling project will also increase.
You're best bet is to be informed about the housing market in your neighborhood. Before taking any major steps, consult a trusted real estate agent to determine your home's market price, and get your home inspected for any structural damage.
