Cabinet Refacing Demand is Growing

Jerry Baldner held a number of different jobs before he created Kitchen Solvers, a kitchen cabinet refacing and remodeling company, with his wife Betty. He had been a high school guidance counselor, a marriage counselor, and a college professor. He ultimately decided to launch a kitchen remodeling business because he saw a need to take the hassle out of kitchen remodeling.

Cabinet Refacing Demand Grew with Home Improvement TV

Jerry and Betty tapped in to the market at exactly the right time. While they were establishing their reputation and gaining more business locally, the home improvement movement started to take off. People started seeing their homes as their sanctuaries, and started spending more time and money sprucing them up. Home improvement really took off when the entertainment industry jumped into the mix. With popular TV shows like Trading Spaces, a show that focuses on interior decorating and remodeling, home improvement became a craze. People recognized that the cost of cabinet refacing was affordable, and that kitchen cabinet refacing could really improve their home's resale value.

The Balder's business took off. They couldn't keep up with all of their cabinet refacing projects, and they eventually sold franchises to others around the country. After a while, their son bought the business from them and now runs over 139 franchise outlets that bring in over $17 million in sales.
