It may be an unfashionable wood these days, but I must say that I have a bit of an obsession with pine. Once we had measured up our kitchen, we shopped around and found a solid pine kitchen cabinet package with additional larder and a ceramic sink. This adhered to our rustic tastes and was surprisingly cheap. I chose to keep freestanding appliances, which kept the cost down considerably.
