When Glass Kitchen Cabinets Are Not a Clear Choice

Glass kitchen cabinets are so pretty that it's hard to imagine any reason not to want them. Here are a few reasons you might consider solid wood replacement cabinet doors instead.

How to Clean Kitchen Cabinets

Is your brood nearing Jolie-Pitt proportions? Then you might want to choose custom cabinet doors that do not show every fingerprint and peanut butter and jelly splatter. Face it, even if you wanted to, you don't have time to clean glass kitchen cabinets that are getting completely messed up at every meal and your attention is probably needed for other things around the house.

If your little guys like to throw the ball around no matter what room they are in, then maybe something a little more durable would be better. Breaking an occasional dish or cup poses enough of a threat to little feet on the floor. There are alternatives to glass, like Lexan or plexi-glass, that won't break and are clear.

Custom Cabinet Doors

Perhaps instead of glass kitchen cabinets throughout, you could invest in a Lexan or plexi-glass pantry door. It will give that same light airy feeling that glass kitchen cabinets do, but it won't be as vulnerable to a rough and tumble family using it. Be warned, if keeping your pantry tidy is a challenge, you will want to use frosted or etched glass to mask the mess if you can.

Glass kitchen cabinets can add a great deal to the look of your kitchen. But if practicality is really what you need, then opt for the look that will last and wear for a very long time.
