Maple Cabinets Three Ways
By Leslie A.M.RefacingCabinet.com Columnist
Maple cabinets are not inexpensive kitchen cabinets, but they are a good choice for several different kitchen styles. Here are just three that claim maple kitchen cabinets as their own.
Modern Kitchen, Classic Design
A modern kitchen looks most classically modern with beautiful light blond maple cabinets. If you aren't sure what modern style is, it is often called mid-century modern referring to the 1950s. The lines are low, clean and long. Synonymous with a modern decorated home is an Ikea showroom. Clean, stark light maple cabinets with simple handles are iconic of a modern kitchen.
Mission Possible
The mission style usually has cabinets that have a thick frame on the front of the cabinets. This frame is not mitered, though. It is simply squared and aligns with the edge of the cabinet fronts. Typically mission or craftsman style uses darker maple cabinets. Hardware is dark to black. It has a wonderful warm look that makes your kitchen look like it's always the source of wonderful things.
Contemporary Style
Contemporary design is always up-to-date. Maple kitchen cabinets work great with a contemporary look. It's comfortable, beautiful and shows off today's styles without being overly trendy. If you are trying to picture a contemporary style kitchen, think pendant lights and stainless steel appliances. There's nothing gaudy or over the top about contemporary design. At some point a contemporary kitchen will look dated so choosing a wood cabinet like maple to go in your kitchen will add to the mileage.
Maple kitchen cabinets are durable and versatile. They look great and will contribute to the value and appeal of your home. Don't know which way to go in your kitchen? Consider going maple!
