White Kitchen Cabinets: A Modern Clean Look

White kitchen cabinets are always considered versatile, but if your mind is telling you they are woefully in the categories of French or American country, then you might have a hard time picturing it. Here are a few ways to update and virtually transform your white kitchen cabinets.

Custom Cabinet Doors: Miracle Workers

Perhaps your new home's white kitchen cabinets have paneled doors. Just changing the hardware won't really make those modern. Order solid doors with inside-mounting hinges. Your cabinets might need to be slightly modified to accommodate this mount. Choose hardware that is chrome, nickel, brushed nickel or black for a distinctly modern look.

Inexpensive Kitchen Cabinets

If you are starting with a clean slate and want white kitchen cabinets for your modern kitchen, then you really win out. Modern kitchens look great with the look of melamine-covered pressboard or MDF (medium-density fiberboard). These are inexpensive kitchen cabinets but have a look that is uniquely modern. They are easy to clean but probably will not last a lifetime. Pressboard just does not last as long as solid wood.

Glass Kitchen Cabinets

As an alternative, and as a great way to break-up the white kitchen cabinets, add some glass kitchen cabinets. Frosted or fluted glass can be just what you need to dress up your canvas of white kitchen cabinets.

Building around your white kitchen cabinets, your modern décor will look great with a matte finished granite kitchen counter. No need to match mid-century kitchen counters, the contemporary materials will look great and add an element of freshness to your kitchen. As well, consider appliances in stainless steel or another color that will match your cabinet hardware. Match your sink, your faucet and any lighting in the same decorating genre for a great new look.
