How to Clean Kitchen Cabinets: Three Easy Steps
By Leslie A.M.RefacingCabinet.com Columnist
Knowing how to clean kitchen cabinets is really knowing when to clean kitchen cabinets. Cooking some great meals each week can really build up grease and grime on your cabinet. Even washing pots and pans in the sink can create a residue of soap. Here are three easy habits to put in place to keep your custom kitchen or stock kitchen cabinets looking spic and span.
How to Clean Kitchen Cabinets
1. ...Daily
Every day wipe down your cabinets with a damp soft cloth. This is especially important if you have nice custom cabinet doors, maple cabinets, or cherry cabinets. If you have glass kitchen cabinets, use a glass cleaner or vinegar to make your glass as clean as it can be. Also wipe down areas like refrigerator and oven handles with an antibacterial cleaner.
2. ...Weekly
At least once a week, wipe down your hood, all of your drawer pulls and knobs on your cabinets. Also clean those areas that are not eye-level but are subjected to all the same elements in your kitchen--your back splash and your lower cabinets. From maple kitchen cabinets to inexpensive kitchen cabinets and even black kitchen cabinets--clean thoroughly even if you can't see the residue or spills.
3. ...Monthly
Once a month conduct a kitchen tune-up. Open your drawers and cabinets and clean anything that might have spilled to the interior side of your cabinets. Tighten any screws that have loosened on your hardware. While you have the screwdriver out, you might need to take off the handles and soak them until they are clean. Use a cleaner that is appropriate for the material--plastic, nickel, brass, etc.
If you can keep up with these three easy practices and make them habits, you will never lose the luster of your custom kitchen look.
