Where to install reused kitchen cabinets
By Leslie A.M.RefacingCabinet.com Columnist
One brand of green kitchen cabinets are those that are reused. Reusing kitchen cabinets does not need to be limited to the kitchen. Use your imagination for reuse in other parts of your home.
Remodeling Kitchen Cabinets for New Uses
Most important to the success of reusing cabinets is not knowing how to install kitchen cabinets, rather, it is knowing how to de-install kitchen cabinets. First, remove the kitchen counter after you take out the sink. Your finished counter top--granite, marble, formica--is probably laid on top of plywood that is just nailed to the top of the cabinets. Pry it off without damaging the cabinet boxes. Remove drawers and doors to make it easier. Use a crowbar to separate the cabinets from the wall carefully.
Green Kitchen Cabinets Come Out of the Kitchen
Your beautiful maple kitchen cabinets can have new life as the base of a wine bar in your living room. Glass kitchen cabinets along the wall in a family room become a pretty, dust-free book shelf. In your dining room, cherry cabinets become a stunning buffet that holds your fine china and table linen.
Kitchen Counter That Really Counts
You have the option of reusing your kitchen counter in your kitchen--as long as your did not create a new layout for your new cabinets--or, you can salvage it and use it with the cabinets in another room.
If you have the know-how and the time, you can do this yourself. If you aren't so sure that you know exactly how to install kitchen cabinets to look professional, then hire cabinet refacers. Ask for a bid to do the entire project, including resurfacing kitchen cabinets if need be.
